Title: Experimenting - Part 6
Pairing: Lorelai/Rachel
The next day, Lorelai went to work at the inn with Rory, who came with her to earn some extra money. As Rory sat at a table in the lobby stuffing envelopes, Lorelai and Michel both did their work at the front desk. In the late afternoon, Lorelai was pleasantly surprised to see Rachel walk through the lobby door. Carrying her camera bag, she walked over to Lorelai at the desk.
"Hey Lorelai," Rachel said, subtly glancing at Michel. "Um, I wanted to take some pictures out back." Rachel held up her camera bag. "Is that okay?"
Lorelai could tell by her eyes that Rachel wanted to talk to her. "Oh. Sure," Lorelai replied. "Let me walk you back there." As she walked around to the other side of the desk, she said, "Michel, cover the desk please."
"No," he replied, not looking up from his work.
"Thank you Michel." Lorelai walked Rachel through the lobby and dining room, and out onto the back porch. They walked across the grounds and sat on one of the benches near the lake.
"What's up?" Lorelai asked. "You look like something's bothering you." Suddenly, a nervous feeling swept over her, as she thought that maybe Rachel was now having second thoughts about their relationship.
Rachel exhaled slowly, unsure of how to say what she needed to say. "Well, I... see, I did something that I shouldn't have done. I didn't want to do it, but I did it anyway, even though I know that I shouldn't have and I swear I didn't want to in the first place."
Lorelai laughed. "Well, I'm glad we got that cleared up."
Rachel looked down at the grass. "I had sex with Luke last night," she said. She slowly glanced up at Lorelai.
Lorelai's smile faded and was replaced by a look of surprise. "Oh. Uh, well, that's..." She looked down at her hands and started wringing them uncomfortably.
Rachel moved over closer to her. "Please don't be mad," Rachel said. "It didn't mean anything at all. I just... well, I thought it might be too much to just suddenly stop doing it altogether. I mean, we want to ease him into this right?"
Lorelai nodded. "Right," she said softly. She folded her arms across her chest as she pondered the situation, trying to grasp how she felt about it.
"And, you know, that was the first time we'd done it since you and I... well, since we got together." Rachel exhaled loudly. "I mean, the past few nights we've kissed a little and stuff, then I would use an excuse to get out of doing it, but then last night, I just didn't – "
Lorelai interrupted by holding up a hand. "I get it," she said with a sigh. "I don't like it, but I get it."
"I'm so sorry," Rachel apologized. "I just... then I felt so guilty about it, and I thought telling you would be the right thing to do."
Lorelai nodded. "Thanks for telling me."
"And listen," Rachel said quietly. "It doesn't mean anything at all. Just because we had sex doesn't mean that I still want to be with him, and it doesn't mean that I don't want to be with you. I do, I only want to be with you. You know that, right?"
Lorelai nodded. "I know. I trust you."
Rachel smiled. "Good." She ran her finger over Lorelai's arm. "Plus, I was thinking about you while we were doing it."
A smile formed on Lorelai's lips. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." Rachel smiled.
Lorelai glanced towards the lake, then slowly back at Rachel. "Um, so do you think you'll do it again?"
Rachel shook her head. "I promise that I'll use as many excuses as I can to get out of it. And if he starts getting suspicious, then... well, we'll just tell him."
Lorelai nodded. "Okay." She rested her elbows on her knees and placed her chin in her hands. She exhaled loudly.
Rachel put a hand on Lorelai's back. "Aww, come on, now you look sad. I hate seeing you like that." Rachel paused. "Hey, I know. What do you say we go out for dinner tonight? We'll go someplace far, like to Bristol or Avon, somewhere where people won't know us. We can hang out, be ourselves." She waited for a response. "Huh? What do you say?"
Lorelai smiled. "I'd love that. Aww, it'll be our first date."
Rachel smiled. "Yeah. It'll be great."
"Okay, I'll check the phone book and make reservations," Lorelai said. "What are you gonna tell Luke?"
Rachel shrugged. "I don't know, that we're just hanging out. He won't think anything of it since we've been hanging out so much anyway."
"Okay." Lorelai glanced at Rachel's camera bag. "So do you really want to take some pictures back here?"
"Actually yes," Rachel said, glancing around at the scenery. "It's beautiful back here."
"Yeah, it is," Lorelai agreed. "Well, uh, I better get back inside. Um, I'll pick you up at the diner around 6 or so."
"Okay," Rachel said. They stood up and hugged platonically, in case anyone was watching. As they pulled apart, Rachel said quietly, "God, I really want to kiss you right now, but... " She gestured towards the inn, and the various people walking the grounds.
"I know, me too," Lorelai smiled. She turned her back to the inn, kissed her index finger and tapped it quickly against Rachel's lips. "There. That'll have to do."
Rachel brought her finger to her lips, as if trying to feel Lorelai's kiss. She smiled. "Better than nothing. So, I'll see you later."
"Yes, you will." Lorelai walked back towards the inn as Rachel sat down and started removing her camera from her bag.
Lorelai walked towards the inn with mixed feelings. Part of her was excited about their date, the other was disconcerted about the situation with Luke. Lorelai told herself to forget about it, since Rachel seemed sincere enough to indicate that it truly didn't mean anything. Plus, deep down, Lorelai had known that they would probably be having sex at some point since they were still living together -- but she had pushed the thoughts from her mind. Having Rachel confirm it though brought them back up to the surface. Lorelai sighed. 'You just have to realize,' she told herself, 'that Rachel is with you now, but she just needs to do certain things for Luke. Remember Luke - he's the one who's losing out here.' Lorelai walked into the inn to the front desk.
"What took you so long?" Michel asked grumpily. "Did you get lost?"
Lorelai ignored his questions and said, "Thank you Michel. Why don't you take a break now?"
"Hmph, I will," Michel said. He shut the guestbook and walked into the kitchen.
Lorelai pulled out the phone book from under the desk and opened it up. Rory walked over to the counter and stood behind her, who was too busy flipping through the yellow pages to notice. "Hey Mom," Rory said, tapping her on the shoulder.
"Agh!" Lorelai jumped and turned around, placing a hand across her chest. "Oh my God! Okay, Michael Myers, how about we don't do that anymore?"
Rory laughed. "Sorry. I finished the envelopes and I put them in your office."
"Oh, good, thanks. Um, you wanna head home?" Lorelai suggested. "I mean, there's not much else to do around here."
"Okay." Rory started walking to the table to get her things.
"Oh, hey, listen," Lorelai said. Rory stopped and turned around. Lorelai continued, "Rachel and me are gonna go out somewhere tonight. You know, she doesn't really any friends here, and Luke's grunting doesn't really satisfy her conversation requirements for the week, so we're gonna have dinner and talk and stuff."
"Cool, I'll just order a pizza or something," Rory said. "Uh, I'll meet you at home."
Lorelai smiled. "Okay hon. See you later." Lorelai watched Rory grab her stuff and walk out the front door. Then she grabbed the phone book, took it into her office and shut the door.
* * * * *
That evening, Lorelai walked into the diner slightly before 6 p.m. She was wearing a low-cut black dress that fell just above her knees, but covered herself with a long coat so that she wouldn't appear too overdressed for a supposedly "casual hanging out session." She walked up to Luke at the counter.
"Hey," she said. "Is Rachel ready?"
Luke glanced at her, and continued wiping the counter. "Uh, she'll be right down. So, where are you guys going?"
Lorelai replied, "Oh, I'm not really sure. Just hanging out. Probably just dinner or something, maybe catch a movie. There're some pretty funny ones out."
Luke nodded. As Lorelai watched him, she suddenly felt like the worst person in the world. Here he was, one of her best friends, and she was going behind his back, secretly dating his girlfriend. What kind of friend was she? Lorelai sighed and stared at the floor. A few seconds later she heard Rachel's voice, "Hey, I'm ready."
Lorelai looked up and saw Rachel standing in the doorway to the staircase. She smiled as she quickly glanced her up and down. All other thoughts quickly floated away as she stared at Rachel in her black skirt and light blue sweater, an outfit that accentuated all of her curves perfectly.
Luke definitely noticed the outfit too, and he gave an approving smiled as he walked over to Rachel. "Hey. You need any money?"
Rachel smiled. "I've got enough, thanks." She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking towards Lorelai.
"See you later," Luke said. They said goodbye and walked out the door.
As they walked towards Lorelai's Jeep, Lorelai said, "Oh my God, you look great. I think Luke was drooling just as much as I was."
Rachel laughed. "Thanks."
They reached the car and Rachel climbed in the passenger seat. Lorelai opened her door, then removed her coat and threw it in the backseat. Rachel's eyes widened as she saw Lorelai's dress. "Amazing. You look amazing."
Lorelai smiled. "Thanks." She climbed into the Jeep, and drove them to the restaurant almost 45 minutes away. As they rode along and talked, Lorelai was amazed at the amount of things she and Rachel had in common, and found herself growing as much intellectually attracted to her as she was physically. Their conversations were a perfect mixture of intelligence and humor, as Rachel's wit -- although much less apparent -- was almost as quick as Lorelai's. Lorelai couldn't find one negative quality about Rachel, which was astounding to someone as faultfinding as Lorelai.
They pulled up to the restaurant, went inside and were seated across from each other at a corner booth. Several minutes later they ordered their meals, and soon were starting on their salads.
"So, you haven't really said much about your family," Rachel said. "Tell me about them."
Lorelai laughed. "Oh God, how much time do we have?"
Rachel smiled. "Okay, how about a summary?
"Okay, well," Lorelai started. "I'm an only child, and my parents are these wealthy, uptight, old fashioned parents who firmly believe that the upper and lower classes shouldn't mingle, and that flying first class is a necessity of life."
Rachel smiled. "Ah, I know the type."
"Yeah. So, needless to say, we never really got along. I never cared about all the stuff they cared about, cotillions and fancy dresses, being proper and perfect." Lorelai made a face. "Blah... it just wasn't me. I was very independent and rebellious."
"And then you got pregnant." Rachel said.
Lorelai nodded. "Right. And then I got pregnant, and my parents obviously did not take it well. They wanted me to get married, but that was so out of the question. I mean, I was 16. Who wants to get married at 16? So I had Rory, and split town a few weeks later, and started a new life in Stars Hollow." Lorelai took a sip of wine.
Rachel smiled. "Wow. That's great. Your parents must be so proud of how successful a life you've made for yourself."
Lorelai let out a small laugh. "Well, proud isn't exactly the right word. Bitter, angry, grudge-holding, still hurt that I ran away, take your pick. But proud? I wouldn't say proud."
"Aww, I'm sorry," Rachel said. "I bet they are though. I mean, raising Rory by yourself? That had to be so hard. You've done an incredible job with her."
Lorelai smiled. "Thank you. Yeah, it was hard, but it was worth all the hard work. I'm so proud of her... of who she is, of how she acts. She's really great," Lorelai said. She stared into space for a few seconds thinking about Rory. She suddenly blinked and brought her attention back to Rachel. "So what about you? What's your family like?"
Rachel replied, "Well, my parents aren't anything like yours. They were pretty laid back and lenient. I have two brothers, and we grew up in a very small midwestern town filled with lots of corn and nothing to do except look at the corn." Lorelai laughed. Rachel continued, "And after I graduated high school, I went to Chicago. I went to college there, I started working at a newspaper taking pictures, covering stories, started traveling everywhere. One day I came to Stars Hollow... "
"And you met Luke," Lorelai said.
"And I met Luke," Rachel said with a smile. "And, you know, we hit it off, and were together for awhile. And I loved him... I really did. But I just... the town was too much like my hometown. Small, quiet, nothing to do, I just felt so cooped up. I needed to leave, to go someplace with more action. And Luke didn't want to come with me, so I left by myself. And it's something I've always felt bad about ever since then. I know I hurt him a lot." Rachel sighed. "Anyway, so I traveled some more, doing photo stories everywhere, it was amazing. And then one day I got the urge to come see Luke, so I did. Then I met you, and fast forward to right now." Rachel smiled. She glanced around at the surrounding tables and lowered her voice. "And I didn't know that I could ever feel... those kinds of feelings for a woman, but I did."
Lorelai smiled and nodded. "I know what you mean. It was kinda awkward at first, like, 'whoa, why am I feeling like this?'"
Rachel nodded. "Exactly. And I tried to push them away because, you know, I didn't know how I should deal with them. But I couldn't make them go away, and I just couldn't ignore them anymore."
Lorelai nodded. "Man, that's exactly what I was going through. Exactly."
"And, I've been thinking," Rachel said. "I mean, this kind of lifestyle... it won't be easy. You know, people will treat you differently, people will act strange around you, people will gossip about you. But, I mean, I'm willing to ignore all that if it means that I'm with you." Rachel reached across the table and ran her fingers over Lorelai's hand.
Lorelai smiled as a chill ran through her body. "Me too. We can deal with that together." Lorelai looked down at her salad and picked at it, pushing it around the plate.
Rachel noticed something was wrong right away. "What? What's wrong?" Rachel asked, a concerned tone in her voice.
Lorelai brought her head up and sighed. "Well, I'm just looking at this objectively for one second, and I'm just wondering if you're gonna... " Lorelai didn't finish her sentence. She continued picking at the salad.
Rachel was quiet for a moment before she said, "If I might leave you like I did to Luke... right?"
Lorelai looked up at her and nodded. "I'm sorry for thinking like that, but... "
Rachel put her fork down and clasped both of her hands around Lorelai's. "Look, I know I don't have a good track record, but I promise you that I won't leave you. I cross my heart..... I mean, there's not much more I can do except hope that you believe me." She stared into Lorelai's eyes.
Lorelai smiled. "I believe you."
Rachel smiled. "Good." She removed her hands from Lorelai's and folded them in her lap. Lorelai finished her salad, and a few minutes later their meals arrived. Their conversation stopped for awhile as they ate. After several minutes, Lorelai said, "Can I ask you something?"
Rachel nodded.
"Why were you so upset when you thought that Luke was cheating on you?" Lorelai asked. "I mean, it would've given you a good opportunity to break up with him."
Rachel took a sip of water before she answered. "Oh, because if we broke up, it would've been weird for me to stay here, and then I wouldn't have been able to see you anymore. I had no idea how you felt about me, and so if Luke and I weren't together, I probably would've left town. I mean, I know essentially I was using Luke, but I just... " She sighed. "I hated doing it, but I didn't know what else to do."
Lorelai nodded. "You know, when Luke told me that he thought you were cheating on him, I thought the same thing. If you weren't with Luke, I would never get to hang out with you." She shook her head, disappointed at herself. "I've been the worst friend in the world to him. I'm a terrible person."
"I feel horrible too. I just, I can't imagine how he's gonna take this." They were both silent for a few seconds. Rachel sighed. "Okay, let's just forget about it for tonight, we'll worry about it when the time comes. Let's enjoy our first date."
Lorelai smiled. "You're right." She felt happy as she ate a few bites of her chicken. The more she talked with Rachel, the more she felt her feelings developing more intensity. The crush factor had worn off; it was something more now. She thought back to her original dream of Rachel, the one that made her recognize these feelings that had been lurking deep down. At the time, she would've never guessed how strongly she would eventually feel about her. Lorelai smiled to herself as she relived the images of the dream in her head.
Rachel saw her smiling. "What are you thinking about?"
Lorelai looked up, realizing that Rachel had been watching her. She smiled and lowered her voice. "Um, the other day I had this really intense dream about you and me... you know, in bed." Lorelai repeated, "Really intense."
Rachel smiled and narrowed her eyebrows. "Oh yeah? Hmm." She leaned forward slightly and whispered. "Maybe it'll come true."
Lorelai felt a chill run through her body just imagining it. She smiled. "Hmm, I'd like that."
Rachel smiled and took a sip of water. She asked, "What would your parents say if you told them about us?"
Lorelai laughed as she pictured it in her head. "Oh God. Nothing. They would say nothing because they'd both have simultaneous strokes and immediately collapse."
Rachel laughed. "Yeah, they don't sound like they'd be very accepting of a situation like this."
Lorelai shook her head. "Definitely not. But, I mean, they'll find out someday, and they'll just have to deal with it."
Rachel nodded. "Yeah, it'll work out."
They finished their meals, and chatted some more while they waited for the check. The waiter placed it on the table and walked away. Lorelai and Rachel both reached for it. "I got it," Lorelai said.
"No, let me get it," Rachel said. "It was my idea."
"No, that's okay, I got it," Lorelai insisted. Both of their hands were grasping a side of the check, neither one of them loosening their grip.
Rachel smiled. "Okay, you buy mine, I'll buy yours. Deal?"
Lorelai smiled. "Fine."
They paid the bill and walked out to the car. As they got in, Rachel said, "Hey, we passed a little park on the way here, right on this road. You wanna go there and talk a little more before we head back to the Hollow?"
"Aw, yeah," Lorelai said, smiling. "That'd be good."
Lorelai drove them down the street to the park. They parked in the parking lot away from the other three cars that were there, and Lorelai turned off the engine. She checked her watch. "It's a quarter to nine. We should try to leave by 9:15 or so, that way we'll be home by 10. If we're too late, Luke might... I don't know, think it's weird."
Rachel nodded. "Yeah. Sounds good. Um, let's get out and take a walk." She climbed out of the car. Lorelai grabbed her jacket and a blanket from the backseat before getting out. She put on her jacket, tucked the blanket under her arm, and walked around the Jeep to Rachel. Rachel extended her hand and Lorelai accepted it, their fingers intertwining. They started walking down a tree-lined pathway into the center of the park.
They walked along the harshly paved path until they reached a small clearing. Off in the distance, they saw a pavilion with picnic tables and some playground equipment. They walked several yards onto the grass before spreading out the blanket and sitting down on it side by side. Their legs stretched out in front of them, they both leaned back against their arms and stared at the sky.
"Wow, it sure is a beautiful night," Lorelai commented.
"Yes it is," Rachel agreed. She paused for a few seconds. "Lor?"
Lorelai turned her head to look at her. "Yeah?"
Rachel was staring directly into Lorelai's sparkling blue eyes. "I had an amazing time with you tonight. I don't think I've ever connected so much with someone... ever. Really."
Lorelai smiled. "Me too. And me either." She leaned towards Rachel and they kissed softly. As they pulled apart from each other, Lorelai noted that this kiss seemed different from their others. It had more passion, more warmth, more meaning. Maybe it was the beautiful setting overhead of the clear sky filled with bright stars. Maybe it was because they were completely alone, not trying to rush their kiss so they wouldn't be discovered. Maybe it was the fact that they just spent an entire night learning about each other, and their relationship had reached a whole new level. Whatever it was, Lorelai liked it.
Rachel gently pushed Lorelai's hair out of her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. A chill ran though Lorelai's body at Rachel's touch. Rachel said, "You know, I still owe you."
Lorelai looked at her confused. "Owe me what?"
Rachel smiled. "For yesterday, when you borrowed my sweater. I never got a chance to reciprocate." She placed her hand on Lorelai's knee and moved her finger in a circular motion.
Lorelai's jaw dropped slightly, and a smile played on her lips. "What? You mean, here?" Lorelai glanced around, then rested her eyes back on Rachel. "In the middle of the park?"
Rachel smiled and nodded. "It's risky. You up for it?"
Lorelai thought for a moment. Part of her felt nervous about it, but the majority of her was extremely turned on by the exhibitionism aspect of it; the possibility of being seen, of being heard, of getting caught -- it all sounded so thrilling to her. An electric rush ran through her body at the thought of it. She smiled and nodded.
Rachel smiled. "Good." She leaned forward and kissed Lorelai on her lips, gently separating them with her tongue, allowing it to make its way inside Loelai's warm mouth. Lorelai reached up and ran her hand through Rachel's hair while they kissed. Rachel pulled her lips away from Lorelai's and started kissing her neck, while her hand traced the neckline of Lorelai's dress down her chest, then slipped beneath the fabric.
Lorelai closed her eyes as Rachel cupped her breast. Rachel's hand against her bare skin immediately made her nipples harden, and Lorelai let out a small moan. She suddenly opened her eyes and glanced around, remembering that they were outside. When she was convinced that no one was around, she closed her eyes again and relaxed, leaning back against her outstretched arms. While still kissing Lorelai's neck, Rachel took the nipple between her thumb and forefinger and squeezed it. Lorelai's body jerked slightly at the mixture of pleasure and pain, and she started breathing heavily.
Rachel moved onto the other breast, treating it in the same manner. Lorelai let out a louder moan this time, and once again opened her eyes to glance around, paranoid that someone was around. There were three cars in the parking lot, so there had to be at least three other people around somewhere.
Rachel noticed her discomfort and laughed. "You know, I don't think you should quit your day job to become an exhibitionist."
Lorelai smiled. "Sorry, I just got a little nervous."
Rachel nodded and leaned back. "I know. Maybe we shouldn't do this here. You won't enjoy it if you have to keep watching for people every two seconds."
"No," Lorelai said quickly. "I'm okay, let's keep going."
Rachel shook her head. "No, Lor, really. It'll be weird for you, I don't want you feeling like that." She leaned forward and gave her a kiss. "We can just finish in the car."
Lorelai smiled. "Sounds good. Thank you." Rachel stood up and extended her hand out to Lorelai to help her up. Rachel grabbed the blanket and they started walking towards the Jeep. As they reached it, Lorelai took off her jacket and threw it in the back as she climbed into the driver's seat. Rachel tossed the blanket back there too, and they stared at each other with a smile. "Now, where were we?" Rachel asked. They leaned forward and kissed. She pulled back and said, "Recline your seat."
Lorelai complied, and now lay practically flat in the car. Rachel leaned over her and pulled the thin straps of Lorelai's dress down her shoulders and arms, sliding the dress down so that Lorelai's breasts were uncovered. Rachel leaned forward and took one into her mouth, and Lorelai responded with a pleasured groan as Rachel tongue flicked the sensitive nipple. As Rachel continued sucking on her breasts, the arousal between Lorelai's legs intensified. She could feel her juices ready to be released at even the slightest touch.
Rachel removed her mouth from Lorelai's breast and placed her hand on Lorelai's knee. Lorelai's heart raced as Rachel slowly slid her hand upward, beneath the dress and up the thigh. Rachel gasped as her hand had reached Lorelai's waist. She placed her lips next to Lorelai's ear and whispered, "Something you forgot to tell me?"
Lorelai smiled. "Oh yeah, I'm going commando."
Rachel smiled. She rubbed her hand over Lorelai's flat stomach, caressing its smoothness. She used her other hand to pull the dress up, revealing Lorelai's panty-less lower body. Rachel placed her other hand on Lorelai's body, and glided one hand down each of her thighs. She took a finger and outlined the triangle between Lorelai's legs, Lorelai's body surging at the touch. She let out a loud moan as Rachel placed her hand over Lorelai's sex, it's softness and warmth making Lorelai's legs twitch.
Rachel watched Lorelai's face as she slowly inserted a finger into her. Lorelai's jaw dropped open, her eyes clenched shut, and her panting increased at the touch, and Rachel's hand immediately became covered with juices. Lorelai moaned loudly and starting jerking her body against Rachel's finger. Rachel responded by entering another finger, and began thrusting them in and out of Lorelai's opening. The smell of sex filled the air as Rachel's thrusting and Lorelai's moaning continued. Rachel brought her other hand between Lorelai's legs, taking her swollen clit between her thumb and forefinger and squeezing it. Lorelai responded with a loud scream, and her body squirmed from the intense pleasure. Lorelai reached behind her head and grabbed the back of the seat as Rachel's fingers kept active.
As Lorelai approached her maximum brink, Rachel increased her finger speed and continued massaging her clit. As Lorelai arched her back and screamed loudly with her orgasm, Rachel smiled, happy to see Lorelai so satisfied. Lorelai's moaning, accompanied by a number of 'Oh My God's', subsided and Rachel removed her juice covered hands from Lorelai. Lorelai's heavy panting continued for several minutes as Rachel watched her with a smile.
Lorelai finally brought her seat upright, and leaned over to kiss Rachel. "Oh my God," she said. "Wow." She kissed her several more times on the cheek before leaning back against her seat.
Rachel smiled. "I'm glad we finished in the car. You would've definitely attracted a crowd with all that screaming."
Lorelai laughed. "Yeah, well, that's your fault. You've got magic fingers." She glanced at her watch. "Oh my God! It's 9:30. We really have to go." She pulled her dress straps up, then lifted herself off the seat to pull the bottom down. She reached into the backseat and grabbed the keys out of her coat pocket. Lorelai started the car, but before she could put it in reverse, Rachel put a hand on her arm. Lorelai turned to look at her.
Rachel leaned forward and kissed her softly. Lorelai removed her hands from the steering wheel and wrapped her arms around Rachel in a warm embrace. Their lips broke apart from each other, and Rachel rested her head against Lorelai's shoulder. Lorelai rubbed Rachel's back gently. "Hey, you okay?"
"Mm hmm," Rachel said, wrapping her arms around Lorelai's waist. "But we can't do this back home, so I wanted to do it here."
Lorelai smiled and continued to hold Rachel. She kissed her head and rested her cheek against her hair, inhaling its fruity aroma. Lorelai glanced at the dashboard clock, but then quickly closed her eyes and scolded herself. 'You're not interrupting this moment to stick to a time schedule,' she told herself. This was the warmest, most romantic moment she had ever spent with Rachel, and she didn't care how late they got home. She wanted this moment to last forever.
