Part 3

Rory looked around as they managed to find an empty table, the room was loud, dark with strobing lights and the air reminded her of a steam sauna.

Ally gave her date a hidden glance and saw the discomfort. Realizing this might not have been the best place to take her she asked loudly, "Want to leave?"

Rory looked back at the older woman and then shrugged, "If you like it I can stay," she replied her voice barely audible over the background noise.

Ally laughed almost giggled, "I took you here because I thought you liked these kind of places."

"No, I prefer sitting at home watching old movies, or new ones when in company. Of course if reading is an option I'd bounce on it in a heartbeat," Rory shook her head.

"Good, I really don't like these kind of places, Maddie does though," Ally winced at the loud dance music screaming through a pair of underpowered speakers.

"Let's leave then," Rory smiled, mouthing more than actually saying it out loud.

Ally nodded and they both rose just moments after they had seated and began to make their way back out.

* * * * *

Some minutes later they were walking down the streets watching the different clubs, and places crowded by youth and tourists.

After looking in vain for a quiet place they deiced to sit down at a small plaza with a tiny fountain at the middle, just the typical picture of a Rome neighborhood.

Ally sighed disappointedly, "This really didn't turn out well."

"At least you look good," Rory said with an appreciative look. "I on the other hand didn't bring any dating clothes."

"You could wear anything and I'd appreciate it, baby." Ally replied with a grin her eyebrow raised, suggesting something else.

The lights from the close by houses' windows lit up the tiny square and it gave Rory's blush a golden tint.

"Please! Don't talk about that stuff, because I'm not very comfortable about that yet," Rory winced at Ally.

Ally nodded, knowing partly what the younger woman went through, her own experiences were not that different, although hers had come at a much later stage in life and she had been able to take the life changing events with a remarkable calm stride.

Both silenced and listened to the evening sounds filling the city, making the atmosphere seem filled with a comforting haze.

Suddenly Rory let out a short laugh, startling Ally to give the other woman a curious glance.

"I just recalled I told mom about you," Rory explained with a wry smile.

"Oh?" was Ally's only reply.

"Yes, however I told her you were not a she..." Rory continued.

Ally wrinkled her nose, "I don't like being referred to as a he," she said with resignation.

"I'm sorry about that, but she managed to pry it out of me that I'd met someone," Rory's wry smile faded to look more serious.

Ally smiled back at her, "It's ok, but if we go any further you'll have to be honest with her, I'm not in the closet any more."

"I don't think I want to be either, I just don't know how to tell her. I mean she's always warned me about boys, and now I'm revealing she had nothing to really be scared of?"

Ally giggled, "She'll just project it to girls now," she pointed out with a winning smile.

Rory returned it and said, "I guess..."

They silenced once again and both turned to look at the end of the plaza where a couple of young teens sat or stood with their vespas, they were quite loud and had just recently added themselves to the square.

It took them not long to notice the two women, one young the other older and their words seemed to indicate they were in discussion.

Ally and Rory smiled at each other as one of the guys began to advance at them with nervous steps.

When the youngling who was barely more than a boy was about ten steps away from the two, Ally arched an eyebrow at Rory who smiled and then nodded. At the sign Ally inched closer and within seconds their lips closed into a deep kiss.

Rory closed her eyes and tried to enjoy the sensations, this was the first, no wait the second kiss she had ever shared with another of the same sex as hers. This time it felt different, of course she had been prepared compared to the time Paris had landed a smooch on her.

They parted as they began to hear the whistles coming from the group of guys some obviously enjoying the scene. The boy who had enough courage to walk up towards them scurried back to his gang soundly rejected.

Ally and Rory gave them a grin before Ally nudged Rory to stand up with her, she deiced it was best if they left before any of the boys decided to be hostile about the whole incident. One never knew if that could happen, especially not in such testosterone induced environments as that gang of young men.

When they had put some distance between them and the small plaza Rory asked, "Why did we leave? I was quite enjoying myself."

Ally winced and then replied with an apologetic voice, "Sorry, we really shouldn't have done that, you never know what kind of reaction that can garner, especially when the audience is in that demographic."

Rory gave the older woman a worried look, "Really? I've never thought about it other than in social studies, and then it was pretty cursory."

"Believe me," Ally replied with sad eyes as her memories reminding her about her first girlfriend.

Rory noticed the sad face and silenced, they continued to walk in a rather brisk pace, quickly putting a safe distance in between them and the court they had just left.

Then it hit Ally that it might have been the other one's first kiss, she turned her head to Rory and tried to give the other woman her best apologetic look, "Sorry, I forgot it was you first?" she did not finish the question.

Rory shook her head negatively, "No, I've actually done it once before," she smiled at the memory.

Ally looked relieved, "Good to hear, I really didn't want ours to happen quite like that though."

"I hadn't even given it a thought really," Rory stated with an offhand voice.

"So how was it?"

Rory thought about it soundly, making humming notices as she thought, they were honest although teasing.

Ally smiled widely making her dimples show, "Something you have to learn about women Rory, don't put them on a string like that."

Rory grinned at her and then replied, "I'm honestly not sure. I mean I liked it a lot, and was about to begin enjoying it when those boys interrupted us, but I always had a crush on Paris, didn't realize it until now but that kind of made her kiss really memorable."

Ally nodded slightly disappointed, "Ah I see, hard to say then."

"Even if it wasn't the best one I've ever had, I certainly want to do it again," Rory added as she noticed the older woman's feelings.

Ally lit up, "If it weren't for Maddie I'd invite you up to our hotel."

Rory giggled slightly, "And if it weren't for my grandmother I'd invite you over to my hotel room."

"You would?" Ally asked with a stylistic surprise, obviously not being serious about the question.

Rory grinned at her, "Not thinking I'm that kind of gal huh?"

"Depends entirely on what you'd have in mind for us to do once in your room," Ally replied returning the grin.

"Oh I think you can imagine," Rory stated with a coy voice.

Both giggled at their banter as the continued to walk along the street.

After a while Ally got serious and said, "I'm sorry I didn't get you anything to eat."

"Don't... worry I had a great time anyway," Rory replied interrupting her won sentence with a big yawn.

Ally gave her date a concerned glance, "What are you and your grandmother up to tomorrow?" she asked with a serious voice.

Rory shrugged, "Nothing special, we're probably going shopping," Rory stopped to grin, "That is grandma is shopping and I'm carrying."

Ally smiled back, "Just like when Maddie asks me to join her when she needs someone to carry her things and pay."

"I don't have to pay though, thankfully, she's the one who's rich."

"Anyway, I was wondering if you and your grandmother would like to join me and Maddie for a tour outside of Rome, it's to a vineyard."

Rory shrugged, "I can ask, what's the name of the yard? Perhaps my grandma knows of it."

"I don't remember, I know it recently changed name as there's new owners," Ally blushed; she was embarrassed she had forgot about the name.

"Oh, I'm sure she's willing to try it anyway," Rory hesitated, "Um, it's just one thing..."

Ally simply raised her eyebrow in reply.

"Ah, she doesn't know you're a 'she'," Rory said with a tiny voice.

Ally smiled at the younger woman's embarrassment. "Don't worry, we'll just tell her your date had to attend business and me, The 'Sister' will come along instead," Ally replied with a soft voice, she never had the need to scream out about the person she liked to the entire world.

Rory felt relieved as Ally explained the plan, she was relieved the other woman hadn't been upset she was so covert about their thing to her relatives. She guess it must have been all those dramas on the TV she had seen that made her think of others with her... preferences in stereotypes.

"So then see you outside your hotel at nine o'clock?"

Rory snapped out of her wandering thought and nodded, "Sure that sounds fine, see you then."

"See you then..." Ally replied without moving.

Rory wondered what she was waiting for then it dawned on her and she smiled sheepishly before she hurried over and reached for the older woman's lips.
